Jennifer Zhang
is a pianist and music educator based in San Francisco, California. With more than a decade of teaching experience, she works with students from beginner to early advanced levels, guiding them to deepen both their skills and their passion for music.
Her own musical journey began at the age of five, studying with teachers from Beijing and Hong Kong, and later with an instructor who graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. As a young pianist, she completed the full sequence of ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) performance examinations, an experience that inspired her continued pursuit of artistry and discipline throughout her teenage years.

In her second year, she chose to also pursue Music with a concentration in Classical Piano Performance, studying under Marilyn Swan, a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music. Jennifer graduated with honors in both of those fields, along with a minor in Chinese, and was recognized with multiple awards, including the Toshinao Kanno Prize for Outstanding Graduating Piano Performance and the Edward & Patricia Gammel Endowed Scholarship.
As an instructor, Jennifer emphasizes the importance of a strong technical foundation as the basis for expressive, long-term growth. She is known for her patience, empathy, and adaptable approach, and she is committed to fostering a positive, encouraging environment that supports each student’s individual needs. She finds joy in working with students who bring dedication, curiosity, and a willingness to grow.
